“Is it not finished, Are you not done, yet”?,
one of my relatives asked me.
“How much more are you going to study?”
I had been doing my Ph.D. for about seven years including the masters program. Every one in my family was wondering, if I will ever finish it! I considered myself a career student then. But the day finally came in 2010. It was finally done. All these years of hard work paid off. “It was finally done.” As I look back to those years, I still wondered, how my wife and I survived through those years!
As I had been studying the book of John, I was reminded of the ‘finished’ work of Jesus Christ. In John 19:30, Jesus’ final words on the cross were,
When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. – John 19:30
This however, this was not the only time, these words were recorded in the bible. In Revelation 16:17, where God is about to pour of the last (seventh) of His final judgment of His wrath on the earth, it is written.
The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, “It is done!” – Revelation 16:17
In Revelation 21:6, at the beginning of new heaven and new earth, Jesus said these words,
He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.
So, here is the summary of God’s perfect plan for the sinful world.
- In John 19:30, God removed the Power of Sin through His Son Jesus Christ.
- In Revelation 16:17, God removed the Punishment (penalty) of Sin through His Son
- In Revelation 21:6, God removed the Presence of Sin from the world through His Son.
Praise be to God.
So next time, when you feel stuck in your job, or relationship or your life as a whole, remember God’s perfect and finished plan for your life through His Son Jesus Christ.
